January 2008 Conversion of average daily traffic volume into hourly traffic volume |
If the average daily traffic volume is available, we assume a truck percentage according to the following table for the calculation of the noise pollution. Sometimes the truck percentage is explicitly given but the traffic volume only as a daily average. The following table gives the factors for a conversion of the average daily traffic volume (DTV) into an hourly volume in order to make a calculation in spite of that. Please use these values for a calculation of the hourly values with the decibel calculator. |
Relevant traffic volume M in Cars/hour and relevant truck percentage p (with a gross permissible weight of > 2.8 t) in % (pursuant to RLS-90, table 3) |
Type of road | during the day (6 am - 10 pm) | during the night (10 pm - 6 am)
M [Kfz/h] | p [%] | M [Kfz/h] | p [%]
Federal motorways | 0,06*DTV | 25 | 0,014*DTV | 45 |
A-road | 0,06*DTV | 20 | 0,011*DTV | 20 |
Secondary roads, district roads and local link roads | 0,06*DTV | 20 | 0,008*DTV | 10 |
Municipal roads | 0,06*DTV | 10 | 0,011*DTV | 3 |
