 3.1.2 Calculation and assessment foundations

The calculation and assessment foundations for meeting the legal noise protection requirements are laid down in acts or in DIN norms, guidelines and ordinances mentioned therein. In the context of road and railway noise, these norms, guidelines and ordinances are the following:

  • DIN 18005-1: Noise abatement in town planning
     
  • 16th Federal Immission Control Ordinance (16. BImSchV): Traffic Noise Ordinance
     
  • VLärmSchR 97: Guidelines for Traffic Noise Protection at Federal Highways of Public Easement
     
  • RLS-90: Guidelines for Noise Protection at Roads
     
  • SCHALL 03 / Akustik 04: Guidelines by the German Federal Railways (Deutsche Bundesbahn/DB) for the calculation of the sound immission of railways or of marshalling yards and freight handling stations
