The study on popular sport facilities, published by the Bavarian State Agency for Environmental Protection (Bayerisches Landesamt für Umweltschutz), is divided in two parts: Part 1 deals with skate parks (October 2005) and Part 2 with beach volleyball, soccer grounds, inline hockey and streetball (June 2006). The study gives a detailed report on these facilities, including emission data as well as indications for an acoustic assessment and measures for noise abatement. Particularly helpful indications for planning are the reference values for clearances depending on the type of use of the territory. The reference values do not replace a detailed analysis; but they serve as a valuable evaluation instrument, especially at an early planning stage.
* In the case of skate parks, what counts is the equipment of the park, i.e. the composition and position of the single skating facilities. Table 5/3: Reference values for the clearances from popular sport facilities (in m) The table reveals that some of the facilities are not suited for the proximity to residential development. Even if the use is temporarily restricted, big clearances are still required. Use restrictions are difficult to realize when the facility is unattended.
