The brochure "Noise immission protection in urban land-use planning" published by Baden-Württemberg's Ministry of the Environment and Transport (1999) wants to provide concrete indications for urban land-use planning. It predominantly treats noises in the context of commercial businesses but also gives indications on reasonable clearances between residential developments and sports facilities. The study is concerned with undisturbed sound propagation (no shielding through buildings or the like). The recommended clearances allow for an adherence to the guide values of the 18th Federal Immission Control Ordinance (Ordinance on the Prevention of Noise from Sports Facilities, see section 5.2.1). The following table quotes from these values:
Table 5/2: Orientation values for the clearances between residential development and sports facilities (in m) If the indicated clearances are not kept, a detailed noise assessment is strongly recommended.
